Catherine A. (Tobin) Gallagher

Catherine A. Gallagher (nee Tobin) age 90, of Drexel Hill, formerly of Philadelphia, on December 22, 2024. Wife of the late John E. Gallagher. Beloved mother of John E., Eileen (late Robert) McGuire, Philip J. (Anna), and Patricia (John) Gilroy. Loving grandmother to Patrick McGuire, Stacey Dean, Ryan Gilroy, Katie Gilroy & Eileen Gallagher. Predeceased by brothers & sisters: Philip (Peggy) Tobin, Marian (John) Fair, Helen (Charlie) Courtney, and James (Betty) Tobin. Loving Aunt Tootsie to many nieces & nephews.

Although Catherine suffered from dementia it was a comfort that she could recall so many happy times growing up in South Philadelphia with her dear family and good friends. Catherine played sports and was especially good at basketball. She spoke often of Vare playground and playing for St. Edmond's School and West Catholic Hight School for Girls.

Catherine and her husband Jack raised their children in Southwest Philadelphia, St. Barnabas Parish. She had great love for her family, strong values and deep faith with a devotion to the Blessed Mother.

In her last days she spoke of going to a party and dancing. She also remembered how her mother and family had good "roll-back-the-rug" parties. We know Tootsie is now doing the Irish jig with her family and friends celebrating Christmas in Heaven.

Catherine will be remembered for her kind, caring ways and her sense of humor, even through her illnesses. She was a wonderful mother and a loving grandmother who will be forever held close to our hearts.

Relatives & friends are invited to her viewing Saturday, December 28th, 9:15am to 10:15am at St. Dorothy Catholic Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill. Funeral Mass 10:30am. Inurnment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters or MainLine Health HomeCare & Hospice .
