Charles P Havens

Charles “Chalie” Havens, age 82, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Prospect Park and Southwest Philadelphia, PA passed away on July 29, 2022, in the ICU at Christiana Hospital. Chalie was married to the late Joan Havens for 50 years, and although he has now been reunited with the love of his life, he will be missed dearly.

Joan and Chalie raised their 3 children in Southwest Philly where they both spent many years working at the airport.  They were loving parents to Charles (Katrina), Christine D’Elia (Stephen), and Brandi Mecouch (Brian).  They were Grandparents to Tatiana, Nadia, Gavin, Stephen, Joey, Tristan, Thalia, Brandon, Brae, Brian, Bridie and the late Sydney.  Chalie also became a great-grandfather to Brandon Havens.

Chalie enjoyed spending his time on the beach, at the Prospect Park swim club, and anywhere the sun was shining.  He would get up and sit out back on the deck from morning until the sun set.  He loved going out to eat and his Saturday trips to Boscov’s.  He loved telling jokes and stories from his childhood.  Before losing his Joanie, he loved spending every minute with her.  They lived a very entertaining life together and when she passed, a huge piece of his heart went with her.

He was an extremely generous man, and his presence will be missed.
