James P. Welch

Southwest Philadelphia

James P. Welch, age 49, passed away on February 28, 2023 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after a lengthy illness. Jimmy was a life long resident of Southwest Philadelphia which he was very proud of. Jimmy was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union. He was an avid fan of the Eagles, Phillies and 76ers but was a vocal supporter of the Pittsburg Penguins hockey team. He enjoyed gardening so much that he had a vegetable garden in his backyard in Southwest Philly. He also enjoyed reading historical novels and books. Jimmy believed in his heart that Donald Trump was the true winner of the 2020 Presidential election. Jimmy wished to be cremated at his death but was a Gift of Life donor before his cremation.

Jim is the son of the late James F. Welch and Theresa M. (nee Murphy) Welch. He is survived by his five sisters: Mary Frances Janes, Theresa Welch, Maureen Burns, Jennifer Welch and Ellen Callan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family on Saturday 10:00 am till 11:00 am at the King Funeral Home, 209 N. Newtown Street Road (route 252), Newtown Square, Interment will be at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA after his visitation
