Throughout Joan’s life she had a passion for her love of family and her love of sports.

Her love of family was evident in every gathering. No matter how small or large the occasion, Joan brought loads of fun and laughter which frequently made her the center of attention whether she intended to be or not. With the birth of every niece or nephew Joan had an immediate genuine love and affection from Caroline to Clark. This was evident when her great nephew Clark was born on February 17th of this year, she texted, “Although I never met him, I already love him.”

Her second passion was that of sports especially her basketball and the love of all of her Philadelphia sport teams. Joan started her basketball “career” at St. Gabriel’s in Grays Ferry and highlighted it when she captained her team to a 1976 Philadelphia Catholic League championship and finished up playing for LaSalle College. She was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and celebrated the cherished victories including our Eagles recent Super Bowl win.

Joan held various positions throughout her working career in retail (John Wanamaker), shipping industry (Hassett), healthcare insurance (Aetna), and finally as a purchasing agent for the federal government.

Joan will be remembered for her kind, caring ways and her sense of humor. She was a wonderful sister, aunt, wife and friend who will be forever held close to our hearts.
