Joseph N. Lerario passed away peacefully at home on October 27, 2024 at the age of 78. Joe grew up in Most Blessed Sacrament Parish in Southwest Philadelphia. He was a 1964 graduate of West Catholic High School for Boys. He joined the Army in January of 1966 and served two years. Joe received a Bachelor's Degree from St. Joseph's College (University) while working and attending night school. He worked his entire career for the U.S. Government in various departments. In 1986, he entered the Defense Criminal Investigative Service until his retirement in October of 2000. Joe loved his retirement. He loved going to his grandchildren's sporting events or activities. Pat and Joe loved going on cruises, traveling, and spending time down their beloved shore residence. He also loved his Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. Joe was a humble, kind, easy going, loving man. He had a great sense of humor. Joe was known to never complain and appreciated everything anyone did for him.
Joe was the loving husband of 54 years to Pat (nee Riley). He was a devoted father to Joe (Joanne), Bob (Sharon), and Tricia (Justin) Sturgeon. Proud grandfather of Marissa, Morgan, Nicholas, Andrew, Samantha, Alex, Riley, Makenna and his two great granddaughters, Amelia and Aliyah. Also survived by his brother Mike (Betsy), his sister-in-law Janice, brothers-in-law Jeff and Bill (Clare) and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 11:30 am until 12:45 pm at Sacred Heart Church, 110 N. Manoa Road, Havertown. Joe's Funeral Mass will follow at 1 pm. Interment will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 11:30 am sharp at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joe's memory to American Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
