Marie T. (Meade) Kennedy

Marie T. Kennedy (nee Meade) age 91 passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024 at Holy Family Home in Southwest Philadelphia. Beloved wife of the late Daniel J. Kennedy. Devoted mother of Marian Kennedy Voorhees (Brian Voorhees) and Karen Kennedy (Wendy Lange). Loving "ReRe" of John Iannelli (Stephanie), Marie Iannelli Carrera (Matthew Carrera) and Danijames Iannelli. Also survived by two great grandchildren Ava Iannelli and Jack Carrera and many nieces and nephews. Sister of the late Thomas Meade, Kathleen Lawler and Betty McAvoy.

Marie and her husband Dan owned and operated a beer distributor in Southwest Philadelphia for many years. Marie's true passion was women's clothing and opened Bon Marie Shop on 64th Street also in Southwest Philadelphia. Marie was a larger than life personality and it was always an adventure when you entered her store.  She was always willing to help an unsure customer who couldn't decide on what to choose. Marie also secured many a bridesmaids their gowns and accessories. She also many years orchestrated a fund raiser for Archbishop Ryan School for the deaf, having a fashion show held at Palumbo's in South Philadelphia. Marie also volunteered in helping with parish carnivals at St. Barnabas in Southwest Philadelphia and St. Dorthy's in Drexel Hill.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family on Thursday February 29th at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill from 11:50 am to her Funeral Mass at 12:30pm. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, where she will be reunited with her husband Dan.

In lieu of flowers Marie requested donations to Holy Family Home, 5300 Chester Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19143, where she spent many happy years.
