Montel MacArthur Cooper, affectionately known as D-Mac, Mackie-D, Montie Mont, Tellie Tel, Sho Sho, made his unforgettable debut into the world in the midst of a blizzard on a snow-covered December 11th in 1995 to Mrs. Johnetta Nelson Cooper and Mr. Wesley Aflred Cooper Sr in Newark, Delaware. Montel was the last of 3 children for the young couple, at the time, and made sure to shake things up. From chasing chickens around the yard on vacations in Liberia, to knocking his tooth out while skateboarding, Montel managed to keep all of his loved ones on their toes at all time. Although he was always on the go, Montie found time to introduce Lorette to the fascinating world of anime, to introduce Kelly to the appreciation of Linkin Park and as for his partner in pampers, Pebbles, from their days of him climbing into her crib to play to their adventurous years where he would introduce her to the life of skateboards, dirt bikes and long boards, Tellie made sure to leave a piece of him with all of his bonus sisters. Now for his aunties and uncles, I’ll simply say D-Mac! If you know...you know! Mackie-D loved the idea of family and being surrounded by his loved ones, although he was typically one of the last to arrive at family functions. He would show up fashionably late with a friend or two by his side and a crazy story to go along with his tardiness. He was a ball of adrenaline and his loved ones wouldn’t have had it any other way. When it came to his siblings, Montel sure did give his two older siblings a run for their money...literally. From uber trips to ordering food remotely to daily cash app requests, Montel made sure to keep both hands in Krystal-Ann and Wesley’s pockets while keeping his feet on the pavement. Montel was a city boy and a lover of life but more than anything he was the perfect mate for his mother’s soul. Montel had such a big heart. From opening his home to the homeless, to offering the shoes on his feet to a shoeless stranger on the street. Left behind to mourn the loss of this sweet soul are so many most especially being an adoring mother who aches for the joyful embrace of her sweet baby boy, a loving father who yearns to watch his son grow to be all he’s ever wanted, heartbroken siblings who feel robbed of the opportunity to age and experience life with their baby brother. Montel also leaves incredibly loving cousins, aunts and uncles as well as some wonderful friends. In all of this, we give God the glory for the 25 beautiful years he granted us with his angel and thank him for the impact he allowed Montel to leave on us. Montel goes on to join his loving grandmother Dolly P, his remarkable older brother John Elliot, cousins Arielle and Jared. May God continue to embrace Montel so gently in his arms until we meet again. Montie Mont, you did well papi...sleep peacefully.
