P. Dermot O’Neill, affectionately known to all as “Derm”, passed away suddenly on December 9, 2024 at the age of 80. Derm was born in Bangor in County Down, Northern Ireland to John and Anne (nee McDermott) O’Neill on August 19, 1944. He became a citizen of the United States March 26,1956 at the age of 11. Derm was a 1962 graduate of Monsignor Bonnor and in1966 received a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Villanova University. There is not enough room to put all of the credentials that he received in this short obituary but he was indeed a CPA and so many other things.
Dermot loved his profession as a forensic accountant. He loved the thrill of the search through paperwork, numbers, and information to provide assistance in cases involving oppressed shareholders, personal injury, wrongful death, accounting malpractice, and contract and tort issues. The thought of retirement had only just recently entered his mind. In his spare time, he was an adjunct instructor first at Villanova University and then at Rider University College of Business Administration, Graduate Studies. He was a guest lecturer at Widener University and Lehigh University Graduate Schools of Business.
Derm is survived by his beloved partner of 20 years, Jean Passo. His loving children Mary Schugsta (Mike), Missy Cunicelli (Anthony), Marlyn Rockefeller (Jamie), Bill Cascarina (Amy), Melissa Weirich (Nick), Stacy Conover (Garret), and Stephen Passo (Susan). The true loves of his life were his grandchildren: Samantha Schugsta; Marco and Sofia Cunicelli; William, Lauren, and Johnny Cascarina; Arianna, Luke, and Kaelyn Rockefeller; Marlyn, Adyson, William Nicholas, and Anabelle Weirich. He was also the beloved brother of Mary Carmel Kropp (Norm).
