Rev. Mr. John J. Kreczkevich

Rev. Mr. John J. Kreczkevich, age 80,  passed away on April 5, 2023. John was also known by family and friends as "Kris".  Deacon John is survived by his beloved wife Susan (nee McBride) Kreczkevich and his loving son Alex Kreczkevich. He is also survived by his sister-in-laws Ruthann Kreczkevich, Francine Kreczkevich and Patsy Kreczkevich. John was the son of the late Walter Kreczkevich and Helen (nee Cuzzydlo) Kreczkevich. John was also predeceased in death by his three brothers, Walter, Edward and Victor.

John was born in the town of Dupont, Luzerne County in upstate Pennsylvania and was very proud of his roots. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army with a tour of duty in Vietnam. John was a deacon at St. Barnabas Parish in Southwest Philadelphia being ordained in 2002. Beside his deacon duties John  was the caretaker of the St. Barnabas Parish for many years making sure that everything was in working order at the school, convent and rectory. He was a familiar face walking the complex and neighborhood.

Reverend clergy, religious, relatives and friends are invited to Deacon John's Funeral on Thursday April 13, 2023. Reception of the body will take place at 9:30am with viewing to follow till 10:45am. Funeral Mass 11:00 am. Main celebrant will be Most Reverend Michael J. Fitzgerald.  Interment to follow Funeral Mass at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA 19064.
