William Kilgallon

d. November 29, 2017

William “Bill” Kilgallon age 80 died at his home in Southwest Philadelphia and pronounced there on November 29, 2017. Bill’s many friends and colleagues at the Philadelphia Fire Department and St. Barnabas Parish were unaware of their friend’s death and his whereabouts until January 2018. It’s taken these past several months to secure Bill’s cremains from the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office and finally it is time to acknowledge a life well lived. Bill was a Philadelphia Fire Fighter rising to the rank of captain. He loved his career at the department and the many friendships that were made. To keep busy during his down time from the department, Bill started a rug cleaning business, AAA Carpet Cleaners, which operated for over 30 years. He also loved automobiles and collected several types of cars and pickups. During the warmer weather, Bill could be seen riding his bicycle around the neighborhood instead of one of his cars. Many a day his destination would be St. Barnabas Church where, beside being a daily communicant, he would volunteer his time and service to the parish. Over the last 12 years he was a regular fixture around the church complex and could always be relied on for help. Bill has been missed by his many friends and it is now time to say goodbye. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated for Bill at 10 am on May 31, 2018 at St. Barnabas Church, 6300 Buist Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19142. Interment will be immediately afterwards at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Barnabas Church.
