Carmen DeFelice, Jr. Obituary

Carmen J. DeFelice, Jr. age 77 passed away on November 5, 2022 in Florida. Beloved son of the late Carmen DeFelice and Rita (nee Giannobile) DeFelice. Loving father of Anette DeFelice and Rocky DeFelice. Cherished grandfather of Zachary Barlag. Loyal brother of Thomas DeFelice (Grace). Uncle of Christopher (Nicole), Gregory (Julie), and Natalie. Uncle to Giovanni, Adrianna, Christian, Sophia, Matthew, and Thomas.

Carmen was formerly of Transfiguration and St. Barnabas Parish in Southwest Philadelphia. He was a graduate of West Catholic High School for Boys, Class of 1962, where he was a two way starter for the Varsity Football and Baseball teams in both his junior and senior years. After high school, he served in the Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany, then graduated from Huron College, in Huron, South Dakota, Class of 1968.

His academic career continued after college as a dedicated member of the staff at The Devereaux Foundation and a Health and Physical Education teacher in The School District of Philadelphia. Carmen shared his love of the game of football as a Football Coach at West Catholic High School and Bok Technical School. He was an enthusiastic basketball official in various recreational leagues both in Philadelphia and Port Saint Lucy, Florida. He was known to his friends and family as an avid Philadelphia sports fan, exercise enthusiast, and all around sun worshipper on the beaches of New Jersey and Florida. Carmen enjoyed spending time with those he loved cooking Sunday dinners, watching his favorite black and white cowboy movies where he always rooted for the bad guy, and telling stories of the good old days growing up in Philadelphia where playing stickball in the street in your black and white Converse was like playing in the World Series!
