James D. Maiura

James D. Maiura, age 94, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2021. James was a proud Army veteran serving during World War II and received the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Army of Occupation Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. James was an operating engineer for over 30 years at Cornell Company and took great pride in his work. He was a man of many talents and interests. He became a private pilot and found great pleasure from flying for many years, he stayed active for as long as his body would allow him, he prayed fervently and had a great devotion to our Blessed Mother. 

James is predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary E. (nee Connolly). He is survived by his loving children Suzanne (Michael) Gallagher, J. Michael, Thomas (Marie) and Mary Beth Wislowski. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren: Paul (Danielle) Gallagher, René (Kevin) Caflin, Christopher (Heather) Gallagher, Gregory Gallagher, Colleen (Brigham) VonStetten, Jeanine Gallagher, Brian Gallagher, Andrew Maiura, Pauline Maiura, TJ Maiura, Kristen Wislowski, Maria Wislowski, and Kevin Wislowski and his 8 great grandchildren. 

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday, March 20 from 9:20 am until 10:20 am at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall. James' Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 am. The Funeral Mass will be live streamed. You can join us virtually on either St. Pius X Vimeo Account or  St. Pius X Parish Facebook page. Following Mass, interment is at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
