Margaret Mary "Peg" (Drake) Mooney

Margaret Mary "Peg” Mooney (nee Drake) age 66, entered into eternal life on January 1, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  Beloved wife of Frank Mooney and loving mother to Meghan, Peg was born in Philadelphia, PA to Thomas and Mary Drake., She was the oldest of four children, with a sister MaryBeth (Karczynski) and two brothers, Bill and Tom.  Peg is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Her father was a chemist who relocated to Mobile, AL, Charlotte, NC and finally East Brunswick, NJ, when Peg was a teenager.  There she attended East Brunswick High School, Middlesex Community College for a two-year degree and then to Parson’s School of Design in New York.  

Peg and Frank started married life in Southwest Philadelphia, and then moved to Prospect Park where they spent most of their years together.  A lover of the impressionist art style; Peg took a job at the Philadelphia Art Museum, where she worked from 1994-1999.  Their daughter Meghan was born in 1999.  Having special needs, Peg devoted her life as a full-time mom for Meghan. Peg doted over Meghan, never missing a school function, play, dance or prom. 

Peg loved music and was a big fan of the Beatles, Tom Waits, Livingston Taylor, Sting, Dire Straits and Elton John.  She loved watching TV comedies with Frank (Seinfeld topped the list).  They both enjoyed Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Eagles and Villanova basketball.  Peg loved anything chocolate and enjoyed doing calligraphy, often getting paid to craft wedding invitations.  She had many friends whom she had met in Sea Isle City, and spent summers with them in shore houses.  

Peg was proud of being a mother, relative, neighbor and friend.  She was a kind and loving woman with a hearty laugh and wonderful spirit.

Peg’s Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Saint Gabriel’s Catholic Church (233 Mohawk Ave, Norwood, PA 19074).  Friends and family are also invited to her visitation which will be held prior to Mass at the Church from 9:30 to 10:50 am.  Mass will start at 11:00 am.  Interment will be held at Saints. Peter and Paul Cemetery following Mass.
