Direct Cremation
When a family inquires about a Direct Cremation, we first determine if this is really what is wanted. A Direct Cremation involves no viewing, no services or gathering involving the funeral home or staff.
Our direct Cremation is $2,300 and includes:
- A one man removal of your loved one from a hospital or medical examiner
- Sheltering of your loved ones remains for two days in our refrigeration unit
- Arrangement conference to secure necessary legal information necessary for death certificate
- Filing of the death certificate with the State of Pennsylvania
- Obtaining permits from the state and local medical examiner
- Transfer of your loved one from the funeral home to the crematory
- Transfer of your loved ones cremains from the crematory to our funeral home
- Coordinating to return your loved one to you in a cardboard container with cremains enclosed inside a plastic bag
- Obituary and picture on our website
Cash Advances (money paid to other companies necessary for the cremation) that need to be added to our Direct Cremation cost:
- Cremation process at Delaware County Crematory $300
- If deceased is over 300 pounds, crematory charges an additional $50
- All counties, but Philadelphia, charge a Cremation Permit fee of $55.00
- Death Certificates in the State of Pennsylvania are $20 a piece
Additional charges that could potentially be added to our cost:
- If an additional man is needed to make the removal from the place of death (i.e. house or nursing home) add $125
- If an additional man/men are needed to make the removal from the place of death and possibly to even transfer to the crematory due to the weight of the deceased add an additional $125 per person
- If a cardboard container is needed for the cremation process add $100
- If sheltering of your loved ones remains before the cremation process takes place is more than two days, an additional $50 per day is added for use of the refrigeration unit
